How Full Sail's SME Course Kicked My Grammar Errors To The Curb

Three of your original expectations for the course

The three expectations I had for SME were learning how to build a community of like-minded people on social media, learn techniques on how to create more engaging content, and create professional accounts on social media platforms I wasn't using the time.

Three things you learned in SME this month

I learned in SME using Linkedin and Reddit as social media platforms to post articles. I've used both platforms before, but never for personal items or job searches. I like that I can now use these platforms in addition to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, & YouTube.

The second thing I learned was that my grammar was or had gotten terrible over the last few years. I have been so used to create social media captions or posts that have character limits. This course taught me that I need to be more aware of my small grammatical errors while writing.

Finally, I learned in SME that I am moving in the right direction with my career goals. I wasn't sure how knowledgeable I was on social media, but this course showed me that I know what I am doing & could use social media for my future profession in New Media Journalism.

One way the information you learned in SME this month will help you in your professional career as a journalist

As a journalist, your words and articles you produce are your entire job, so make sure you have no grammatical errors when posting or sending in pieces to online outlets. I have never been so frustrated with my grammar before this course. But Professor Foley pushed me to work harder on seeing any errors made and fixing them. I would be so embarrassed if an article were submitted or picked up by an online or traditional news outlet with grammatic mistakes all over the piece.
